Fairy Tail 310 Trivia: Like other Fairy Tail characters, Natsu has also resembled or borrowed things from Mashima’s other works. For one, his Dragon Slayer fighting style has a resemblance to Rave Master’s Let who is also coincidentally a dragon himself. In addition, his appearance as the Great Demon Lord in Edolas is similar to Lucia Raregroove (with the exception of the horns), the main antagonist of Mashima’s Rave Master.

with each chapter the tension is rising, but its also progressing very slowly, the last 3 chapters have probably accounted for about 1 minute within the series.

Minerva is getting a lot of build up but I want her to get her ass handed to her, mashima has made it really easy to hate her and wipe that smile off her face.

logically rouge and orga should get their asses kicked, I don’t like kagura she has a lack of depth to her character. im intrigued by what sabers plan is in regards to sting anyway

    • Monkey D. Natsu - January 4, 2013 at 11:17 am #

Orga shouldn’t be able to be hurt by Laxus so it’s a difficult fight.

      • Nidai Kitetsu - January 4, 2013 at 11:19 am #

im not sure if that’s a definite thing with god slayers since wendy was able to hurt chelia during their fight

      • Gildarts - January 4, 2013 at 11:21 am #

Laxus is going to win, easily I might add. More or less it’ll be a fight like Gray vs Rufus.

      • Monkey D. Natsu - January 4, 2013 at 11:22 am #

But the thing about FT is it basically leads you to believe that God Slayers>Dragon Slayers, though we have yet to see a God Slayer win.

      • Gildarts - January 4, 2013 at 11:24 am #

That’s exactly the point. GS are hyped but they won’t win in the end. Laxus has DF, so he has an advantage compared to Wendy and Natsu.

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 4, 2013 at 4:59 pm #

Laxus can win without lightning, his combat abilities are top notch.

Both Gildarts and Laxus are on a whole new level in melee, forget magic.

  2. Nidai Kitetsu - January 4, 2013 at 11:50 am #

fairy tail will win all the fights its currently in.
reason, natus saved lucy, when he sends out the flare to signal their successful rescue all of the fairy crew will get the extra motivation they needed to win.

leaving sting, Minerva, jura and lyon and that’s when itll get really interesting

    • Nidai Kitetsu - January 4, 2013 at 11:50 am #

      haha new page

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 12:40 pm #

While this does seem rather likely, personally I would find it annoying if it does indeed happen since Lucy being rescued shouldn’t give them motivation, given rescuing Lucy was their motivation to begin with. If anything, it should supply them reassurance, though that shouldn’t in turn give them reason, energy, and motive to win.

They should be more like, “Oh, I am no longer burdened by the mission of rescuing our comrade. I can lose now”, or “Yay, Lucy’s rescued. We can finally fight for fun”, or something like that, I suppose.. :I

      • Nidai Kitetsu - January 6, 2013 at 12:49 pm #

considering its a manga and they like to provide motivation rather than “well if Lucy’s safe I don’t need to win”. they’ll think “well natsu rescued lucy so I cant let myself be shown up by him, so I have to win”

      • Titus - January 6, 2013 at 1:18 pm #

        Eh, good point.

Still would personally find it odd if showing up Natsu motivates them more than rescuing one of their nakama.. :l

      • Nidai Kitetsu - January 7, 2013 at 5:20 am #

        cough* grey and gajeel cough*

and juvia would totally go ape shit if she saw grey get all motivated as a result of something to do with lucy

  3. Happy Lector Died - January 4, 2013 at 12:04 pm #

Not a bad chapter, but Lucy still sucks.

The threesome fight is heating up while many other fights are happening, although this event will take ages, Orga and Rufus are toners.

    • Happy Lector Died - January 4, 2013 at 12:05 pm #

Goners not toners, fucking auto correct

    • Nidai Kitetsu - January 4, 2013 at 12:12 pm #

probs add rouge too, I cant see him winning against gajeel.

I think the unexpected outcome is sting turning on Minerva to save lector or because he finds out that she lied about saving him

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 4, 2013 at 4:45 pm #

I’m really wondering what Sting is upto. He escaped all the cameras which is interesting.

  4. Legendary Super Saiyan - January 4, 2013 at 12:36 pm #

Gajeel vs. Rouge, Laxus vs. Orga-who IS a god slayer like we’ve all been saying since last year, and Kagura vs. Erza. Interesting…

    • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 4, 2013 at 4:46 pm #

haha, I’m excited for next chapter, it has the potential to be my favourite chapter for the entire arc. I’ve been going on about how excited I was to see Kagura destroy Erza and expose her. Its the subplot I’ve cared about the most this arc.

  5. Eekram - January 4, 2013 at 1:07 pm #

Laxus will win this fight cuz He’s gonna fight Jura for the Fina Match.

Is there a possibility for Gray vs Lyon? Gray seems like he’s in a bad shape after Rufus.
I thought, Minerval will loses first cuz I want to see a final Match between Erza and Kagura.

  6. Fame - January 4, 2013 at 3:50 pm #

waited 2 weeks for that? not impressed, not satisfied.
sting has piqued my interest though..

  7. The True Troll King Juhabach - January 4, 2013 at 4:51 pm #

I reckon FT will all survive day 5 and then one person will troll all of them. Maybe Sting since Sting was already reduced to being a weakling by Natsu. Rogue is going to get brushed off by Gajeel.

Anyway the point is that Hisui said it was an impossible outcome. Everyone post your alternative ideas to what this impossible outcome could be.

  8. The True Troll King Juhabach - January 4, 2013 at 5:20 pm #

I haven’t really given Fairy Tail a proper review today because I was on my phone.
Future Lucy was knocked out cold, I find this very interesting because she didn’t have time to warn them of anything. I also want to know what made her faint. What would she have moved onto say if she were alive? ‘WATCH OUT FOR ARCADIUS!!!’…? Who knows. Anyway I hope she dies an burns in the castle along with the gate and crappy time travel plot. That way time travel won’t be worse than Rave’s. It already annoys me that Mashima is reusing it yet I never see a big 3 mangaka do it at all.
Moving on to the good stuff.

It was a brilliant setup to have Millianna captured, this obviously led to her friends battling each other. Things are gonna get emotional and this fight has the potenial to surpass anything in this arc. There will be a lot of swordplay, emotions, talk no jutsus and wavering Erza’s nakama power. Erza is going to also wake up. I’m rooting for Kagura but whatever if Erza wins… I guess it would be better for the plot if Erza came out on top just so we can see FT’s impossible defeat.

Mashima is now going forward with it, the arc is nearing its climax, and I mean it Kishimoto style since he said that during Masked Tobi vs Naruto despite that being 20 chapters ago and still long ongoing. We will finally have the Sabertooth story resolved soon, all the fights will happen, Gajeel will trash up Rogue (hands down the weakest dragon slayer in FT), Orga will lose to Laxus, I mean Laxus is Godly and owned Iwan… but if Laxus is Godly then perhaps that makes him vulnerable to Orga the God slayer (pun intended). Minerva will play dirty, but ‘the lady’ will get it coming, just you wait! Millianna is obviously not gonna fight, Chelia will randomly lose offscreen when Mashima decides to nuke off non-FT characters. I’m more curious about Jura, he hasn’t fought yet and is the only one who is currently not in an encounter/or had one. I can see Jura losing to FT even if they are weakened, I mean those 5 are the elite and stronger than the team that fought Hades. They even powered up since and Jura is nowhere near Hades level, especially when he doesn’t measure upto Makarov who was owned by Hades. Sting will probaby be the reigning champion that goes true dragon force and owns everyone.

Can you see how mentally instable Sting is here?
The way he talks looks delluded, like he is butthurt to the extreme over his nakama. Did you see the keyword? nakama. This insane Sting will come over and f*** everyone up in the name of Lector, the dumb cat.
I think this last page is very exciting because Sting seems overconfident and also thinking differently to usual which is odd. The fact he hid from the cameras, planned a scenario and just laughs in the corner is all too shady to me, I want to know what exactly is going through Sting’s mind.
    Art 10/10 (looked top standard)
Epicness 8/10 (Kagura vs Erza, Minerva stuff)
Story 7/10 (future Lucy is still lame but I give a good rating because of Sabertooth and Kagura only)

    • Nidai Kitetsu - January 5, 2013 at 8:33 am #

      u forgot about lyon

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 12:51 pm #

Time Travel likes consumes an enormous amount of energy, or she may even be exhausted from facing arduous trials in the time from which she came from.

Well, that’s because the Big 3 don’t have a magical plot in which the impossible is possible.

Really need to stop being close – minded about this Time Travel shit.. >.>

        This post is really…

Rouge is not the weakest Dragon Slayer in FT. It’s likely either Chelia will win in her bout with Juvia, or the battle will end up being a tie. Fairy Tail won’t have an overwhelming victory with all of their members in tact. Jura is no where near as weak as you make him out to be. Makarov stated him to be on Gildarts’ level, which is likely above the strength Makarov is currently capable of outputting given through his illness his strength is deteriorating alongside his health.

Sting won’t own everyone. Sting is powerful, though nearly not powerful enough to pull of a feat such as that. Though, however misplaced his confidence may be, his haughty demeanor makes me wonder what sort of plan he formulated that would give him the misconception that he would come out victorious in this battle.

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 1:08 pm #

Jura is beatable, he isn’t a God, sure he will give everyone a run for their money, but this is suppossed to be easier than the Hades battle.

Rogue is the weakest dragon slayer, justify why he isn’t and I will take back what I said.

Sting is going to be the scariest thing that’ll happen in this tournament, he will make the biggest comeback and annihilate FT.

Also magic isn’t an excuse for time travel. Time travel is a sci fi concept. ‘Well, that’s because the Big 3 don’t have a magical plot in which the impossible is possible.’ That is a close minded damage controlling response. Doctor Who, The Terminator, Dragonball Z, all utilise this through sci fi not magic. Naruto has ninjutsu, but no shit its pretty much the same thing as magic. Didn’t we see time travel ninjutsu in the fourth shippuden movie the Lost Tower. Bleach has the precipice world, which affects the flow of time, but Kubo never touches it because it’d make the plot lame. You would die if you tried to use it to go back in time.

Time Travel is cliched and dumb, Mashima just thought ‘oh it seems popular, look at Terminator and Doctor Who or something, maybe I’ll do the same to appease the fans’.

Fairy Tail has turned into a fanservice manga in the past year, yesterday I’ve come across a lot of new information which now makes it more obvious. You’re damage controlling Mashima’s incompotence.

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 1:27 pm #

In no way will this be easier than the Hades battle. A lot of the mages currently competing have surpassed Hades’ level of strength. Or rather, at the very least the strength Hades demonstrated during his appearance.

Not seeing how you deemed Rouge as the weakest Dragon Slayer at all…

Rouge has master fuking Dragon Force. Dragon Force aside, based off his how much damage he was able to inflict to Gajeel without using his full capabilities, his base strength alone rivals that of Natsu’s strength prior to the Time Skip,

Keep in mind, Dragon Force triples the users strength, which is likely much higher in Sting & Rouge’s cases given they’ve mastered Dragon Force.

I mean, how do you seriously put Wendy above their strength -__-

The only Dragon Slayer who’s ability doesn’t focus on destructiveness, but rather support. When introduced Wendy didn’t even know one destructive technique, and currently she’s only aware of 3.

        Sting is not that powerful…

I’ve never read Doctor Who, never watched the Terminator. Dragon Ball Z had an infinite amount of universes in which there were several aliens in, several of which even in our society are considered outstandingly intellectual and far above us in nearly every aspect. I would be more surprised that Time Travel wouldn’t exist in a world such as DBZ’s.

Naruto ninjutsu is no where near the same as Fairy Tail magic. Naruto doesn’t have dark magic/ninjutsu that could potentially have detrimental effects on their entire world.

Their S – Class Ninjutsu or forbidden techniques that they are not allowed to use don’t even have detrimental effects on anything aside from themselves.

Naruto techniques don’t have nearly enough potential to do anything Fairy Tail magic is capable of.

Kubo never used Time Travel because it couldn’t influence his plot in any way, so in this case, it would literally be considered an asspull. Unlike in Fairy Tail where it’s been evident that Mashima’s been planning this for quite some time, and has an infinite amount of possibilities to enhance it’s current plot.

Bleach really had no reason to go back or forward in time.

        Whatever you believe, Kara…

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 2:03 pm #

Ok, you got me there with Rogue. I’ll take back what I said. He would beat Wendy. Maybe even Cobra too.

However, I don’t understand where you get the idea that everyone is at least on Hades’ level, that doesn’t sound right at all. Just because there was a timeskip, doesn’t mean every character makes pre-timeskip characters look like fodder. Hades lived far beyond his lifespan and was the secod FT guildmaster, he beat Makarov, a wizard saint. You stating Jura is on Gildarts’ level contradicts your claim that Jura isn’t weaker than Hades. Jura is one of my favourite characters and I still put him at the top 5 in power, but Hades is a monster. No other human is stronger than him except Zeref who lived 400 years.

Naruto doesn’t need to have dark magic, that’s kinda going off in the wrong direction. Naruto has forbidden ninjutsu which has adverse effects much like dark magic in Fairy Tail or Harry Potter. Actually Naruto is pretty much similar to Harry Potter.

Fairy Tail doesn’t need going back in time just like Bleach didn’t. We only had moving into the future which I actually don’t mind. Lucy coming and then all of a sudden fainting while trying to warn them… real cliche… Rave had time travel but it was nowhere near that bad. Those initial impressions really aren’t looking promising. It seems eccentric and just… ugh… Charle can see the future, but that’s prophecising not travelling so its not as bad, although I will admit Charle’s abilities haven’t really done much so far so I guess it supports your argument a bit.

‘Kubo never used Time Travel because it couldn’t influence his plot in any way, so in this case, it would literally be considered an asspull. Unlike in Fairy Tail where it’s been evident that Mashima’s been planning this for quite some time, and has an infinite amount of possibilities to enhance it’s current plot.’

I didn’t like that explanation tbh, if you look at all the theories we discussed, nothing has hinted towards someone coming from the future, only from the past. It was until the robed girl appeared that we really had those stupid future Lucy theories appearing… no, it wouldn’t beright to call them stupid because those theories were actually backed up by the stupid decisions Mashima has actually been making this arc and as much as I tried to deny it, I knew I was wrong. I even tried to add Hisui to the table but had bad vibes all over when I saw that she was talking to Durton while the robed woman encountered FT, that was when I realised it really has to be someone from the future, no denying it. Also time travel is an asspull here because the gate was introduced this late in the series, I can digest time travel better in Doctor Who since that is the overall theme of the series, but FT wasn’t, it was about friendship and adventure. I’ve come across as a time travel hater, so you can obviously see why I’ve been acting this way towards FT, I’ve seen it used too many times. I’m also not fond of futuristic survival horror (you know the ones with all those zombie mutants), I reached my limit with that cliche. Any writer who does it from now on, won’t get a good response from me, Mashima was one of them for time travel to the past from the future (I don’t mind past to future but the other way round seems lame to me).

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 2:14 pm #

From my perspective, the strength they’ve been showing surpasses that of Hades’.

The strength Natsu gained from 2nd Origin allowed him to single – handedly defeat two Dragon Slayers both in Dragon Force.

Natsu’s current base strength surpasses the strength of his Lighting Fire Dragon Mode prior to the Time Skip, of which gave Hades a challenge, which is why I believe a lot of the mages currently competing are more powerful than Hades. Or rather at least Hades base strength without him taking off his eye patch. Not sure how strong he was after that.

My point was, Naruto’s forbidden ninjutsu doesn’t have severe effects on the world surrounding it. Naruto’s rasenshuriken for ex. was classed as forbidden simply because it had detrimental effects towards his own body.

Fairy Tail doesn’t need it, though they did have motive. Unlike Bleach.

I understand why you have dislike for the Time Travel concept, though I still feel you should wait to see how it turns out, because it’s Mashima. He’s done it right in the past and there’s no reason why he wouldn’t be able to do it right again.

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 2:46 pm #

Its not that Mashima did it right in the past, its just that it didn’t bother me then. Sieg Hart’s death was nicely done, so I forgave him for it. That’s why I think Rave is far better than FT, it goes deep and has a sentimental plot. Not saying FT doesn’t, I mean the idea of guilds was the reason I thought the series was great to begin with. Again its just this arc I never liked. everything upto Tenrou, heck even Zentopia were pretty good.

      • Titus - January 6, 2013 at 1:15 am #

Fairy Tail isn’t a sentimental story due to Mashima wanting to take a break from that form of writing

Fairy Tail was meant to be a fun, kick -back story

Fairy Tail 314 – Erza vs Kagura
Natsu and co are in the garden
Lucy looks upto the balcony and sees Hisui. She remembers when Arcadius asked them to see the princess.
Lucy: Loke take Arcadius with you to the spirit world.
Loke: Wha- ok as you wish!
    Wendy, Mira and Natsu: ?!
Lucy: Sorry guys, go ahead without me.
Yukino: If it’s about the princess, don’t worry, she’ll find us anyway, it’s better not to risk ourselves incase she has guards near her.
Natsu: I doubt we can trust her, she threw us in that pit in the first place.
    Lucy is already running off
    Charle: She went off!!
    Natsu sighs
Mirajane: We came here just to get her back but…
Natsu: Never mind, I trust Lucy, she’ll be fine.
    scene change
Erza is knocked back and rebounds at Kagura
Erza: You realise she will most likely come to finish us all off together?
Kagura: I don’t care, I wanted to defeat you to begin with. I doubt she has any reason to make Millianna a hostage after.
Erza: (That’s true but) Fine, I’ll fight you full on!!
Kagura leaps with her blade in the air
    Erza: Re-equip!! Dragonwing armour!!
Erza and Kagura exchange many blows until Kagura’s sword snaps.
    Erza: Give up!!
Kagura: …there is still another up my sleeve.
    Erza: ?!
Erza remembers when Milliana said Kagura had a sword meant only for Jellal
    Kagura unsheathes her sword
    Erza: That sword…
Kagura: It was only made for revenge. It was made for Jellal. I knew he was a powerful mage, no S class mage can beat him but this sword gives me power that rivals the 10 great wizard saints.
    Erza: Tch… then that means…
Kagura: I know you’re fending for Jellal, but I guess its easy for you to forgive him. He didn’t take away your life like he did to your friends.
Erza: Please tell me, what happened between you two!!
Kagura: Silence!! I know telling you won’t get your sympathy, I’m just a nobody to you but Jellal is your boyfriend!! I will tell you this much though… I’m Simon’s brother.
Erza remembers Simon confessing his feelings to Erza before dying
    Erza sheds a tear
Erza: I heard Simon had a sister, who he was isolated from.
Kagura clashes her blade with Erza’s and it shocks her armour as well as breaks her sword.
Erza keeps re-equipping more swords while fighting
Kagura: Millianna and I met a long time ago.
    flashback starts
Millianna, Wally and Sho are in a town and walk towards a high security prison nearby to see Kagura talking to Rune knights.
Kagura: Please, let me see Jellal, I need to ask him about my brother Simon.
Sho: Simon? So she’s Kagura, Simon’s sister.
Wally: Hmmm… she must’ve hear the news of Jellal’s arrest and travelled here.
Millianna is already talking to Kagura
Wally: Don’t just wander off on our own Millianna!!
Kagura: I see, so you were victims too. So Jellal really did kill Simon. Bastard, he will pay… but I’m too weak to fight him. He was a wizard of the saint too. I need to get stronger.
Millianna: But it’s fine now that Jellal is in prison…
Kagura: He killed my brother, he doesn’t deserve to live. Furthurmore, I know he will escape, he is far too manipulative and smart to stay arrested, he was the one that succeeded in destroying the former government. You can never let your guard down.
    flashback ends
    Erza: Re-equip!! Adamantine armour!!
    Erza drops her swords
    Kagura: ?!
Erza: I feel that hatred you have towards Jellal from each blow I get from that sword of yours.
Kagura: That’s the point, this sword gains more power according to my hatred.
Erza: Then I will be the one to take on that hatred… once you’re satisfied, I will tell you everything you want to know. But know this, I loved Simon.
Kagura: DON’T MOCK ME YOU BITCH!!!
Kagura strikes fiercely and keeps wearing down the armour.
Erza: (This armour can withstand any attack almost unless its on high magic concentration like the Jupiter cannon, however I’m surprised her sword can wear it away without magic)
    Kagura: HAAA!!!
    Erza’s armour breaks
    Makarov: ERZA!! What’re you doing?!
    Romeo: Why aren’t you fighting?
Mavis: My plan is falling apart *sob
Erza: Right, this is no time for this. I have to win first for the guild.
    scene change
Orga launches bolts of black orbs at Laxus but he dodges them and then the surrounding is exploded in black lightning
Laxus: Honestly didn’t think it would be that strong after seeing that copycat use it.
Orga: Oh, you mean Rufus. His attacks were weak compared to mine. Only a real slayer can use magic this way.
Laxus: You seem full of yourself!
    Next Chapter: Laxus vs Orga!!

laxus’ demeanour throughout the tournament has intrigued me, he seems confident in himself so im expecting something awesome especially against jura and whats more epic is he has a disadvantage in both fights, god slayer eats lightning and jura uses earth.

I think erza and kagura will come to an understanding and make a move against Minerva strategically, knowing that after exhausting so much magic they wouldn’t be able to beat her by themselves.

gray encounters lyon, struggles a bit then sees natsu’s signal to tell every1 that lucys safe which motivates him and he wins, same with juvia

  12. The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 12:56 pm #

I knew the episode would be bad, but not this bad. I was even sure it would be the worst episode to exist. However it was trash to th extreme level. WHY THE FUCK WOULD MAVIS HOP ON BOARD WITH THIS!! AND NOW MERMAID HEEL ARE WHORES?! Thank God Kagura was safe… she is the only female character I can say is 1005 badass.
Then we have Mira and Makarov getting married?! BULLFUCKINGSHIT!!!
Jenny hardly stood out as a character because of the amount of bullshit the anime version did, its 1000x worse than the manga version, and I even said that chapter was terrible.
Oh… and then Lisanna in a wedding dress facing Natsu who randomly finds himself in a suit… only t find that Loke drops Lucy onto him… faithshipping is messed up in this series to extreme levels.

Sigh… thankfully that was half the episode literally if we took out the prologue where Charle warns everyone and the end where Kagura enters the arena like the badass she is to fight Yukino. Those were epic moments. We also saw the Raijinshuu at the beginning willing to protect Elfman, just beautiful, but guess how the anime f***ed up, by having Evergreen jump midway in the episode as a whore.

Every female character thinks it is alright to behave like this? unrealistic, at this rate I don’t even see why Jenny would be scared about beig nude in Weekly Sorceror when all girls want attention from nudity anyway.

So unrealistic. It is retardation to a whole new level. Episode rating:
    Animation 8/10
    Story 2/10
    Epicness 1/10

Episode was shitty and a waste of budget. Thankfully the next one will surpass this through leaps and bounds.

This arc is worse in the anime… it really is. That’s not a good sign because the anime is suppossed to improve the manga’s original story, look at how Bleach handles the fullbring arc’s anime version, it made it easier to follow.
Even Naruto’s war arc is improving aspects from the manga by featuring skipped fights and adding flashbacks to the Asuma or Hanzo battles to add importance.

I’m very worried about Fairy Tail, ever since Mavis showed up, there has been nothing but trouble. ITS FUCKING MAVIS!! SHE IS RUNNING THE ANIME TO THE GROUND!!! First the OVA made her look dumb to a whole new level to how Mashima portrayed her, then this episode. In the manga we only ever seen Mavis cry and swim on floats, in the anime she tries to fit in and gets too conscious about her chest size. She even tries to convince FT to join in the whore off. Erza ofcourse is a dumb slut so sh joined without moments hesitation. Lucy complained but bitch we know its an act Lucy, we all know your a whore deep down but don’t realise it. Just look at your new slutty outfit where your belly and breasts are exposed. And that isn’t even the swimsuit bear in mind.

What is even more fucked up is that Bisca and Alzack’s daughter was in the whore off, so was Wendy and Chelia… this is sick, very disgusting and is offensive to the Fairy Tail name. Do you think your fanbase are pedos? Do you think we like jacking off to child porn, FUCK YOU!! Its one thing to show many naked girls… but kids… that’s sick and totally unacceptable. I don’t think any culture could accept that, Japanese or Western, its messed up, period.

So again, Worst episode ever. Even worse than the 4th OVA by like 1000000000000000x. It was terrible, only the last 6 minutes were great, but the other 14 minutes were terrible and cringey.

This is probably the worst Fairy Tail rant you will ever see me go on. Its just… fucked up. We waited a long time to see the next episode (2 weeks) but find garbage in its place. Anyway, I’m confident the next part (new opening and ending next week) will be the best part of this up and down arc. I hope they give us a better opening. Although the only terrible thing that will appear is the Iwan battle and possibly even the filler ryuzetsu island chapter which does take place on day 3 so maybe the anime will put it in chronologicl order this time.

To be honest, the Zentopia arc was far better than this arc. I found out yesterday that Mashima doesn’t give Fairy Tail much attention (upto 5 days a week) and works on his montly serialisation Monster Hunter Orange. So that explains the decline in quality.

Also I read an interview and one of the questions were about whether there would be more great moments. However Mashima responded in a shady way.
‘As long as this series is popular I will bring greater material’.

Mashima you don’t say crap like that in interviews, you don’t allow your story to be heavily influenced nd motivated only by popularity. That makes you look money grubby and less passionate about the series itself. What have I been buying your manga and anime for? I bought them because I wanted to support Fairy Tail and I saw a lot of potential, now you say this stuff this year and spit on your own fanbase. I guess this explains the downhill story, lack of Zeref/Acnologia, stupidity, hentai and cliches. You’re not willing to be innovative and try newer ideas, instead you go by what the fanbase wants (he has also admitted to that in his interviews). That’s not how you write story, following the fanbase’s wants is only showing how greedy you are. Loo at ODA!! He is minted, but works way more harder than you, he could stop manga altogether if he wanted to (thanks for that link Titus) but Oda cares a lot about his series. He wants One Piece to be the greatest manga of all time, that’s why he works far harder than he needs to. He cares more about the legacy of OP than money. Look at some sellouts we’ve had, Kazuki Takahashi of Yugioh is a sellout, as soon as the card game was successful, he proceeded to end his series and spend the rest of his long life swimming and snorkling in cash. He was making a ton off Konami’s card game (which has gotten worse over time) and TV Tokyo’s spinoffs. He didn’t write a manga for GX, 5D’s or ZeXaL, instead he just did a few character designs and threw in a few ideas and then went off letting the writing crew (who did a decent job I won’t deny) and then when he was drunk had his assistant make a spinoff manga for GX, he had all his assistants doing monthly serialisations while he swims in cash lazily and stops doing anything with his series. He lets 4kids fuck up his anime, he lets Konami trash up the game. All this happening because he was too lazy to oversea things. Mashima will one day be like that guy if he continues to have this sort of attitude towards manga.

He was pretty negative about Rave too, he said he wanted to make a rocking happy story this time and wasn’t even fond of Rave. He should remember what made Rave a great manga, it was because he was innovative, passionate to convey his story and willing to take risks. That was the Mashima I respected. But in the past year, his interview really showed the changes in him. It’s no wonder this arc sucks more than the rest which were great arcs.

Sigh, I hope Mashima gets his act togethe and just proceeds to conclude the dragon slayer plot and close the curtain on this series instead of prolonging it with dumb stories just because he has a bigger fanbase. The anime is going to have far more fillers than ever too. So I am worried his series will go from great to shit. Fans aren’t stupid, they will know when things are going the wrong direction, like in the arrancar arc and War arc.

    • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 1:11 pm #

I love how you take the anime so seriously…..

Also, Mashima never said he didn’t favor Rave Master >.>

Next time you find out information, please do have full knowledge on it, or actually have the correct information before you rant like this.

      It’s really annoying honestly.

Monster Hunter Orage is completed. Mashima now focuses all of his time on Fairy Tail.

‘As long as this series is popular I will bring greater material’

What Mashima meant by this, is not that his series will be influenced by popularity or by the fanbase, but rather he will continue outputting his greatness for however long fans support his series.

Also, the interview of which you’re speaking of was not this year, but rather years upon years ago.

When I read shit like this it’s really hard to consider you a fan…

I mean if you dislike Fairy Tail this much, just stop reading. This isn’t ‘tough love’ but rather utter hate and dislike for the series.

A lot of shtuff is this post are really just misconceptions and utterly… stupid,(not calling you stupid, for the record. had to clarify because people her get offended too easily..)

I can’t even bring myself to comment on all of it.. >.>

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 1:41 pm #

That interview I saw was 2012. I read one that was 2010 (or 09) and one that was 2012.

The current episode was terrible, I’ve been seeing more bad things all of a sudden recently that its really terrible.

Also Fairy Tail fans care about a series when it goes downhill, a true fan wouldn’t take crap that’s thrown at them.

‘As long as this series is popular I will bring greater material’

What Mashima meant by this, is not that his series will be influenced by popularity or by the fanbase, but rather he will continue outputting his greatness for however long fans support his series.

Even if Mashima meant it that way, you don’t say it. It makes you look calculative and distrusting. Kubo’s manga was losing popularity but he still dragged it on because he wanted to do his story as intended. Calculative mangakas that think 85% of the fanbase’s trends or popularity surge have less passion in the story’s flow. It means that if it was more popular, he would drag it on rather than getting on with the main plot. The ridiculous amount of recent fanservice in both anime and manga is already showing he cares more about the money he can make off the series than the art or story. After reading this stuff yesterday (I went to look into it more after hearing from KingofLighting’s video about this) and I was annoyed by it.

Titus, you call yourself a better fan, but have you ever bought any of his merchandise? Don’t look down on my ‘tough love’ on the series just because you’re a self proclaimed Fairytard. I have supported Mashima’s series and paid him money for his work. I bought more Fairy Tail merchandise than Bleach or Naruto during the time in which I thought Fairy Tail had more potential, however as time went I’ve seen more disappointments at the end of the year (I overlooked many of the flaws because I acknowledge every series has flaws). Instead I’ve seen Naruto and Bleach getting better but FT getting worse by the end of 2012. Even though earlier in the year I thought Fairy Tail was better.

Iwan, Jenny vs Mira, they were terrible… however this eclipse thing is working either, I hardly cared about it. Mashima seems to think readers will be interested in a plan carried out by characters we hardly care about is gonna generate more popularity. Compare that to the Akatsuki, I only cared about their motives because it involved interesting characters, Kisama – swordsman related to Zabuza, Itachi – Sasuke’s brother. There we have it, our initial impressions on the Akatsuki are strong. Arcadius hardly became that intereted, no one cares about Hisui. Not many people care about Zeref or Acnologia because Mashima isn’t doing what he did with Rave Master or earlier FT where Mashima gave us great villains all the way upto Hades that we actually cared about. The Grand Magic Games was suppossed to surpass these past arcs, it was hyped, but at the en of te day it was dragged out, had boring subplots (Eclipse) or subplots that ended up in disappointment (Iwan). It started off as what could’ve been the best arc to FT and had the potential to trash the chunin exams, DB tournaments, etc. However it didn’t live up to much… many people are becoming fed up with this arc, even ForneverWorld and KingofLighting (whose videos I watched yesterday). ForneverWorld seemed just as passionate about Fairy Tail as I did, and we both started at around the same time, his picked up parts 1-4 on blu-ray nd vol 1 of the manga however he was getting sick of this arc. KingofLighting believes this is the worst arc and went as far as saying that if things don’t get better after this arc, he may drop it.

I’ve never been the type to drop a series when its that bad, I still want to get my hands on part 1 and 4 DVDs (have 2 and 3) because I loved those episodes an thought Mashima did a great job in getting us introduced to the world of Magnolia. He even started off steady and threw a bit of comic relief here and there which isfine since it went nicely with the story, however nowadays his comic relief sucks and doesn’t fit nicely, its gotten old and really the series has gotten sillier too when it should be the other way round. Mangas are suppossed to start off sillier and then get a bit more serious (it doesn’t have to be totally serious like shippuden but it definitely shouldn’t get sillier).

Anyway, while I was typing this message, Bleach box sets 6 and 7 along with Yakuza Dead Souls just arrived :)
I’m off my bad mood, and lost any intention to bitch for the rest of the day, thank you Amazon :D

Although I made this rant in the hopes to see Brandon’s reaction. I know he will facepalm just a hard as I did when I watched the new episode (I actually did a number of times).

      • Brandon - January 5, 2013 at 1:44 pm #

I don’t watch anime anymore, so I don’t care for the latest eps…

Regarding FT though… I’ve decided to stop reading it

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 2:04 pm #

You mean you read the interview in 2012? :3

I really don’t care about the anime. In more instances than one does the anime completely stray from the intended story line depicted in the manga, and made everything completely and utterly terrible.

My point is simply this. Don’t take the anime so seriously. It’s not what it used to be, for any series.

No, it’s just that your utter hate and dislike on the series show in your bias and close – minded criticisms, filled with misconceptions. Your first reaction to Mashima stating “As long as this series is popular, I will bring greater material”, being “Oh, he must be appealing to the fanbase”, shows this in every way.

That’s really not what he meant at all…

        Lol no,

Kubo continued his series because he wanted to continue making money. After Aizen’s defeat(where Bleach should’ve ended), Bleach lost whatever plot it may have had, and should’ve ended. But Kubo decided to drag it on. Not for the love of the series, but for the money his series was bringing.

I’m not claiming I’m a better fan, just claiming you’re not a fan, because you’re really not.

Buying merchandise really doesn’t mean anything. I mean, you apparently have even One Piece merchandise, yet you barely even follow the series. You bought that merchandise before you even knew anything about the series itself. Does that mean you’re a fan because you simply have merchandise from the series? Not at all.

KingOfLightning never liked Fairy Tail. He did bad reviews for the chapters majority were most excited about. See, this is why I don’t like internet reviewers. Majority of people who watch these reviewers let the reviewers form their opinion for them rather than them actually forming their own opinion.

Also, just because you personally don’t care for something doesn’t mean nobody cares for it. It’s your opinion. Your opinion doesn’t count for everybody’s.

The Eclipse Plan wasn’t brought up by nobodies in the series that nobody seems to care about. Also, the Eclipse Plan, for me personally, is interesting because it’s attempting to bring back significant characters in the series a lot of people are looking forward to seeing. Also, has potential to go any way. Hisui was one plan for it, whilst Arcadios seems to have another ulterior motive for it. The Eclipse Plan has potential, and was devised by none other than one of Fairy Tail’s main protagonists, Lucy Heartfilia.

I personally believe the Grand Magic Games is Fairy Tail’s best arc, and it’s not even completed. Doesn’t mean this is true, and doesn’t mean it’s false. It’s my opinion. Please don’t become one of those people who constantly state their opinions as fact, Kara.. >.>

If you don’t see the serious beginning to become serious, then that’s you.

Mashima foreshadowed the deaths of several Fairy Tail characters, Future Lucy lost her arm, the country in which everyone competing in the GMG as well as those watching are residing in is about to disappear off of the face off the earth. The current GMG competition supposedly has this impossible outcome that Princess Hisui and Darton are freaking out over, and you say that Fairy Tail is getting silly…?

This is what I mean by your utter hate and dislike for the series clouding your judgement.

A person on OC found this chapter disappointing, not in the sense that the chapter itself was bad or disappointing, but rather because he expects the fights depicted in this chapter to turn out unspectacularly based off of the results of previous fights in this arc.

Like this guy, you’re no longer viewing the series with an open – mind.

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 2:07 pm #

Brandon, that episode… was terrible >_<

I'm going to give Mashima another chance, I loved his earlier episodes so alhough I thought this arc was crap, I want to see how things play out next arc.

If it gets better (doesn't have to be big 3 level) then I'll be back on board with collecting newer volumes (they're pretty expensive that's why I decided to focus on other manga for now that I'm more in the mood for: Bakuman, Blue Exorcist, Bleach, Naruto, OP).

But in terms of english releases I'm only 3 volumes behind on Fairy Tail.

      • Brandon - January 5, 2013 at 2:26 pm #

Eh, trust me, you don’t want to hear me bitch about FT now… let’s just say I lost interest once more and have decided to quit reading it… Found another manhwa in which the main antagonist shares a somewhat simmular goal (Funny enough, released in the same year), but isn’t quite as disappointing to me… Heck, I even regard it as one of the better stories I’ve been reading, though it may seem a little chaotic story wise…

        Sadly, it doesn’t update as frequently ;_;

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 2:28 pm #

        Buster Keel?

      • Brandon - January 5, 2013 at 2:32 pm #

No, Witch Hunter… Buster Keel seems way too simmular to FT if I look and compare it for these two seconds…

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 2:35 pm #

It really did copy a lot of aspects from Fairy Tail, though majority find it the better of the two series.

Protagonist loses actually, has more character development, pretty cool ability, and isn’t self – reliant. Oh, and he trains to get more powerful.

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 2:36 pm #

How many chapters does Witch Hunter have, out of curiosity…?

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 2:40 pm #

Sorry Titus, I just saw your post.

The cliches and fanservice taking over the arc have alread been giving me negative impressions on this series. A few fanservice moments do not matter to me, I still liked it after the Mira/Jenny battle in the manga. I got fed up by the Ryzetsu chapter because it was becoming forced in too much and it was ruining the characters who were initially portrayed as badass.

Kubo’s manga was less popular overtime. He didn’t want to go exactly as fans wanted, he had his story planned for a long time (admitted in interviews), that’s probably why Shuiesha are still putting up with that, either that or because Bleach is appreciate in the West a lot more. I didn’t like the arrancar arc that much, it had up and down moments like the Grand Magic Games did. I liked the beginning and the climax, but not the middle, Nnoitra, Harribel, all boring. It was repetitive and slow paced. However Kubo didn’t care, he wasn’t trying to appeal to everyone, he knows some will appreciate his battles and style, and I’m not gonna lie, he had a lot of originality and style with it. It may not have sit so greatly with me, but I respect that he did things as intended rather than shaping the wtory so much around consumer trends and fanservice. Kubo’s story is very original and different which is whyI still had the patience to keep going, the climax was rewarding and so was the fullbringer arc and 1000 year blood war which are beginning to tie in the loose ends. if Kubo is going to do things that way, then cool. I’m patient so long as there is less bullshit which the current FT arc is actually cluttered with atm.

Hisui isn’t interesing, Brandon had a good point when he said introducing her that late was a mistake. I feel it too, I noticed it has had an effect on me as the reader because it maks me less willing to accept Hisui as a real character. If Hisui had moments earlier in the arc like the King, Durton or Arcadius then it wouldn’t be as bad. But Hisui was a last moment character which looks like an asspull (not saying it is but it looks like that) and it happens at a bad time too because by then Hisui would already be overshadowed by Minerva, Kagura and many others.

However, I like your point on Lucy being behind it. So I’ll take that in mind because that actually related to the story, however you know I hate time travel so it still doesn’t go too well. But just for saying that to me, I actually feel less cynical now.

I haven’t considered myself a OP fan, I do own volumes of it and Blue Exorcist, but it takes more than owning merchandise. Following it is the first step, but not supporting it the slightest when you have all that time to buy a volume isn’t supporting the industry. A volume isn’t that expensive, if people can afford video games, then its just seems lame that they can’t get 1 volume to support a series, no offense. I know some countries have no acces to FT yet, but the US have a lot of it. The UK has a few stores selling it, I don’t want to rub in to European consumers because I’m actually lucky to even have ways of getting it. I bought all my volumes from a distributor for Kodansha who bring the stuff to the UK. But very few people in Europe can be in my situation so I don’t want to take away from that. But US fans hardly have a excuse because they have easy acces to it compared to us. Even the Blu-rays and DVDs are a lot cheaper there than here and stocked in more places. Here the DVDs are ridiculously priced, I saw part 2 for £32 in a store yesterday, however I picked mine up for £10 from the UK distributor personally so again I don’t want to take away from European fans because I know most of them won’t be near as lucky.

However, I used to be the guy the completly pirated anime and manga, I would only buy a few volumes per series (I guess it was my consciousness telling me I’m not a true fan until I own something). I’ve become more consciously aware of manga and anime as a medium and industry, I even noticed the growing market. I started collecting Bleach when I saw the first 2 movies for £3 each. I only bought them on a whim since I was all the way in London and didn’t want to leave empty handed. Then I went into a store one day, and randomly found myself buying box sets 1 and 2 which I found at decent affordable prices. Then I bought handful of Naruto DVDs before going on holiday. Then came back and a month later finally got round to picking up FT, ever since I’ve become a collectorholic. But you don’t need to buy so much to be a true fan, just buying what you can is enough. Now I just do it as a hobby since I’ve not been so much into gaming these days.

Anyway, I haven’t been hating on FT 100%, maybe that rant I did really did look like that. So I’m not gonna try to deny it since I spent most of it bitching about it. I’ll say what I liked so far:
Dragon slayer plot moving at last
        Many of the battles

Those are what have kept me more patient with this arc up until now.

      • Brandon - January 5, 2013 at 2:40 pm #

So far only 81… It does feature 40 pages per chapter iirc, so actually 160 chapters – and is actually updated more frequently than D. Gray Man…

      • Blaaaah - January 8, 2013 at 11:20 pm #

Lol, I stopped watching the anime, but I’m going to have to tell my brother’s friend not to watch that episode ’cause he still watches it. Don’t think he’d want to see everyone act like sluts…

@Kara I forgot when you said it, but you said you didn’t like the middle of the Arrancar arc, right? That’s too bad, ’cause I for one loved the first half of it (before the fake Karakura town fight).
Btw, when it comes to buying FT manga, it depends on WHERE in the US you live, ’cause there’s almost no FT volumes sold here :(

@TTTKJB, you serious about natsu being your favorite?, man natsu is the worse main character ever by far, wow i’m very surprised righ now…

      anyway my list

1- gajeel hands down, gajeel is the best FT character, he is original character who can be very strong and also very funny, this character is the only one i really like in the whole guild of FT

5- maybe orga (i think his cool)

i will stop here there is not a lot of character i like in this manga, although i used to like some of them like mirajane&elfman (before timeskip), laxus (before tenrojima island) makarov (i think his ok as a character)

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 3:17 pm #

        Natsu’s awesome.

      • Gildarts - January 5, 2013 at 3:18 pm #

        Natsu sucks. Haru >>>>>> Natsu.

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 3:23 pm #

Natsu used to suck, one of the good things Mashima did this arc was heighten Natsu’s character. Before he didn’t have enough of a spotlight, now he does.

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 3:26 pm #

@Gildarts I agree, Haru by far beats Natsu. But Haru beats a lot of shonen protagonists anyway. He even beats Ichigo, Luffy (no way Luffy can be better than Haru) and arguably Naruto.

Reason why is because Haru started off well, and ended off well, Ichig started off well but sucked after SS arc. Naruto isn’t as great as Haru but the fact that Naruto isn’t perfect like Haru makes Naruto a bit more complicated, which is why I say arguable.

      • Gildarts - January 5, 2013 at 3:31 pm #

Haru doesn’t beat neither Luffy, Naruto and not even Ichigo. Haru is an idealist brat who barks loud but has no idea of what he’s talking about. Naruto wants peace but he knows the troubles with it. He’s conscious that the world is not all flowers and butterflies and it’s the bad people’s fault for intromitting into it like Haru does. We know that Luffy doesn’t care about the world but only for people he personally cares about. Ichigo is similiar to Luffy + he’s able to empathize with his enemies. Haru is better than Natsu simply because Everyone>Natsu. Cookie Monster > Natsu.

      • bzbo9 - January 5, 2013 at 3:33 pm #

        @the true troll king

natsu always has the spotlight in every arc, i mean even if he isn’t the strongest he always finish by beating the main antagonist… that’s a spotlight, for example in tenrojima island there was makarov/gildartz/laxus and no one of them did anything, but natsu with a power up he won against the second master.

and this arc just decreased his character, with his fight against the two dragon slayer and he won by power of friendship

and yeah you are right haru > natsu

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 3:39 pm #

Sorry, I wasn’t referring to spotlight as in battlewise (I should’ve really made myself clear, sorry about that), I meant storywise. Very little Natsu related events have happened, he seemed to be going through less than Gray, Erza and Lucy were yet he was the main character, instead his role was about saving those 3 from solitude. There wasn’t n actual arc focused on Natsu like the other 3 which was why I didn’t think he was a good main character before. But in this case Natsu has overshadowed many in terms of importance to the plot.

Tenrou arc could’ve been Natsu’s arc, but it really wasn’t. We found out little about his past with Zeref and it was mainly about th FT guild as a whole and Makarov than about Natsu individually so again he just blends in with the crowd. I think Phantom Lord was more well executed but even then, that was Lucy’s arc.

@Troll King that’s a weird list. So when women strip they are sluts but when men do it (Natsu, Gray, Sting) you are ok with it?

        0_0 kara,i had no idea you were……..

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 3:26 pm #

        Nah it’s not that,

Karakura doesn’t like fan service, though doesn’t see men stripping as fan service because it doesn’t appeal to him.

Which is why he’s ok with it,

All he sees is their character. Which is what I wish he would look at with the females as well >.>

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 3:29 pm #

Shisui… you baka… a boy has nothing to hide under their shirt. Whereas women have boobs and their lower area to account for.

That’s why its not a big deal. Although I don’t mind it when Erza looks like that in battle, its only when she does it for fun that its slutty. Natsu wears it for fashion (ok maybe it does look kinda gay), Gray has a bad habit which was explained also it works with his character anyway and Sting… wait when the fuck did he strip??!!

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 3:30 pm #

        Oh… nevermind, he’s just being contradictive.. >.<

      • Shunshin No Shisui - January 5, 2013 at 3:31 pm #

@titus lol,ye i guess he doesnt have to like fan service. but erza’s a good character. no reason not to like her just cuz she wears small clothing.

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 3:31 pm #

@Titus you read me like an open book. Fanservice has taken over Erza’s character that I hardly see any character in her. Whereas Gray losing his shirt never takes away from his character because its part of it.

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 3:31 pm #

        Right? Erza’s fucking awesome.

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 3:33 pm #

You haven’t paid attention to the way she does it >_<

When she does it in battle, it still looks badass because its timed well. But when she does it to impress then no… and sadly nowadays she only reveals herself when its for fanservice not combat. Fanservice sucks when its done that way.

      • Gildarts - January 5, 2013 at 3:34 pm #

Natsu, Sting and Gray’s purpose for being half naked is the same as the girls’. + ALL of them are complete jerks. Gray is a little bit better though. He’s not a cocky bastard.

      • Shunshin No Shisui - January 5, 2013 at 3:34 pm #

@kara lol i dnt remember sting stripping. but wat did u mean when u say u dnt mind when erza “looks like that” in battle? i remember watching her fight on the island or sumthing and running around in a bikini and fighting ppl,i thought to myself “so this is the fan service kara was speaking of”

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 3:40 pm #

“So this is the fan service Kara was speaking of”

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 3:43 pm #

But its more realistic, its not forcefully done so I hardly consider it fanservice.

Its the way Erza’s been doing it after Tower of Heaven (even more after timeskip) that she looks more like a whore.

I never knew Sting stripped, WTF!!

I didn’t even notice Mashima was doing fanservice for girls… maybe its because I’m a straight dude that I can’t see things from the feminine perspective.

      • Brandon - January 5, 2013 at 3:45 pm #

… Is it that weird that I do feel creeped out whenever a man is standing half naked somehwere? (Read, has his shirt off)

I mean, I know it’s not that big of a deal with a man, but I sincerely do not feel comfortable at all whenever I look at it… Especially when it’s on parties… where everyone’s drunk… yea…

      • Titus - January 5, 2013 at 3:46 pm #

My personal take on Erza’s character,

What may seem like to you as her being too revealing and slutty, I find as good character development for her.

If you recall prior to the Tower of Heaven arc, Erza would never feel right unless when wearing armor,

Her armor was her safe haven, in a way,

Though, now she’s comfortable in even the least protective of clothing, as demonstrated through Shisui’s point of her battling whilst in a bikini,

To me, it shows she’s finally overcome her past trauma caused by Jellal

      • Shunshin No Shisui - January 5, 2013 at 3:55 pm #

I never knew Sting stripped, WTF!!

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 3:56 pm #

That is a good way of looking at it Titus and it is very true. However, its quite hilarious at the same time because just because she has gone over her trauma he becomes too confident to the point that she should always be posing bare.

Erza does it sometimes in awkward ways, she acts immature and never realises how dumb it makes her look, she seems out of touch too.

On the other hand, Cana… I actually don’t mind that because her character is suppossed to be like that from day 1. Its her personal style to be that drunk slob who has little to wear, it makes good comic relief with Gray too because the irony is that she is a hypocrite whenever she tells Gray to put is clothes back on XD

Gray and Cana its totally cool but Erza is too badass for that.

      • Shunshin No Shisui - January 5, 2013 at 3:59 pm #

@titus lmfao, good way to defend erza

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 4:02 pm #

@Brandon I’ve seen a lot doing it, thinking from a male perspective, it would be common to see topless dudes in the changing rooms in school (they didn’t let us have cubicles because they’re tight).

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 4:04 pm #

Erza was my favourite character at one point… look howmuch she has fallen in my standards. Get out of here bitch, its Kagura’s turn to replace you as the badass noble female warrior.

      • Shunshin No Shisui - January 5, 2013 at 4:12 pm #

      • Brandon - January 5, 2013 at 4:20 pm #

I think you are looking at it wrong though… as a man I still get creeped out by looking at the chest of another man – In respect I know women who have the same whenever looking at another woman’s bossom…

The reason however for both sides is different…

Men do it out of territorial behavior wheres the women do it to impress men (by pointing out they are able to properly feed a newborn)

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 4:24 pm #

That’s true too. Its never done sexually, maybe that’s why I’m alright when Erza is fighting with less clothing then when she does it for fun.

Actually you know what, i think you figured out my real reason. Sometimes we don’t approve of something but it takes time to figure out why we don’t since its subconsciously done. However that seems to make more sense then the other reasonings I tried to come up with.

Now I got myself all excited for the next chapter >.>

Tried to stay mellow, so I wouldn’t be tripping out when the chapter didn’t release next week, but now I’m all pumped..

Reading the chapter again, I see why everyone feels Sting may do something fuking crazy, and I legitimately feel this way as well.

I mean, Hisui and Darton are again, speaking of that impossible outcome they were informed about, and then suddenly Mashima decides to show Sting as if he’s… playing a part in what’s going to presumably be a Catch 22.

I feel dumb for not noticing this when reading initially..

Though, I do hope that Saber does not win,

I really really really hope they don’t win, though that sorta… contradicts my hope that Sting will basically rape majority of those competing.

    Looking forward to the next,

Judging from this chapter, Sting will make his move whenever the next chapter comes out.

    Really looking forward to it.

Surprisingly more so than Gajeel’s battle with Rouge and Laxus’ with Orga

    And wheres Lyon? >.<

It's been brought to my attention that he, likewise, has not been appearing on the projections.

    Those currently without opponents,

    Minerva – Sting – Lyon – Gray – Jura

    • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 5, 2013 at 5:16 pm #

Have you also noticed the pattern between each team on the ranking?
      Fairy Tail 5
      Sabertooth 4
      Lamia Scale 3
      Mermaid Heel 2

What is ‘catch 22’, it wasn’t in the mangapanda version but stream had it mentioned… does Hisui like using confusing name and numbers?

Imagine if Sting killed Minerva and gained points for the team, the catch here would be that you don’t need to attack just the enemy to score XD

      • Titus - January 6, 2013 at 1:05 am #

        Yup yup,

A catch-22 is a paradoxical situation in which an individual cannot or is incapable of avoiding a problem because of contradictory constraints or rules.

That would be… odd. Though, even if possible Sting wouldn’t do that given he needs Minerva well in order to rescue Lector.

  17. fame - January 6, 2013 at 1:49 am #

true. rave master was way better than this.

been reading ft about 2 years. never comment on it cause its always sub-par. some may not agree, probably in denial. the time skip was a fail, it wasn’t needed.

plot keeps falling back on it self. there’s been nothing new whatsoever about the dragon’s disappearance.

all the arcs for pure fan service. even the characters are for pure fan service than telling a good story. just like the final fantasy series, its as pointless and has no objective.

im pretty sure most if not all of you only read it cause its there, not cause its interesting in any way. not really a rant, just something I realized years ago.

ft is the last thing on my mind, i only read to honor starting it. at times it feels like torture, but its not as bad as how naruto fell.

its ‘ok’ to read, but ur not missing out on anything at all if u dont. rave.. now I loved that. specially the anime. only reason i gave ft a chance..

    • Titus - January 6, 2013 at 1:55 am #

Fairy Tail’s my favorite manga. I read it because I personally find it interesting, and those who don’t read it are missing out on a fun and entertaining series.

      /not in denial

Nothing new on the Dragons disappearance? Read chapter 301

      • fame - January 6, 2013 at 2:06 am #

its no problem if people like it, but imagine some people feel more or less the same way i do. disappointed maybe..

u know.. i actually forgot that chapter existed. i admit acnologia being a human was interesting, but I expected it so it was very underwhelming.

u could say, after reading so many chapters only to have the big mystery revealed in one was anti-climatic and unimpressionable. maybe I expected too much, maybe other artists’ standards are just higher. no matter how i read it, ft feels more and more like an rpg, something to pass the time..

      • Titus - January 6, 2013 at 2:14 am #

There are also those whom likewise feel like me…

I wouldn’t really consider what was revealed in chapter 301 to be the “Big Mystery”, we’re all looking forward to being revealed, though it was a small and interesting revelation on a subject we’ve all been wondering about,

Alongside what’s likely to be a ton of more information with Future Lucy’s appearance, the Ecplise Gate which could be used to gather information on the Dragons disappearance, Dragon King Festival, Fated Day, 777, etc.

I personally don’t see why some people find arcs like these bad, or Fairy Tail as a whole terrible and un-impressionable, though that’s just my opinion, I suppose…

      • fame - January 6, 2013 at 2:28 am #

could be the pacing, i suppose you could say the same for titles like hsdk, au no exorcist, toriko, bakuman, hunterxhunter.. maybe we’re impatient, maybe we’re out-growing manga, maybe its taste, or all 3..

  18. Goku - January 6, 2013 at 5:01 pm #

Ok, i’m here and i would like to give out my thoughts on the discussions above, if you guys don’t mind :)

First off, @juha, the anime adaptations of a popular manga are almost always filled with filler fanservice, and i think people shouldn’t mind that, althought i understand your frustration, because you bought the dvds and you aren’t getting a bang for your bucks, in your opinion (correct me if i’m wrong, but that is what i felt)I hate anime studios that do that kind of thing to a good manga.

Then about the silly beggining and more serious last half disscussion, i would like to remind you guys that a manga having a silly tone doesn’t mean it can’t be serious. Look at one piece for example. But i understand where you’re comming from juha, lately the comic relief has been applied where it shouldn’t have been, like with mavis acting like a child when she failed to predidct the future ( attention, i’m not crictizing the fact mavis failed to predict the future, imo it was a good thing to happen because if mavis was an infallible tactian, ft would become too overpower, but i’m rather dissapointed with mavis because of her reaction to that outcome. She didn’t act like a leader at all) As titus said, the thing with the raveged future is a very serious matter and i completly agree.

About the fanservice in this series, i don’t think is that big or that bad i mean, sure there are some ecchi moments, but nothing deal breaker, exept the fight between mira and jenny. That was sexy, but it was awuful storywise.

Long story short, i don’t think fairy tail is getting sillier, because the series tone is silly, just like one piece’s, but mashima has lately been lazy in the placement of the comic relief.

Time travel. Yeah let’s talk about it. @juha timetravel isn’t really a bad thing, unless you really hate the concept of it which would be your opinion and i that case i couldn’t be arguing with you, but let me say that we have to be patient, we can’t be judging something that hasn’t even been writen yet, that’s like saying that disney will for sure ruin the next star wars movie. Let’s await and see imo. If you care about the discussions with time travel, don’t worry about it, because people who can discuss well won’t be fetching time travel every time they make a theory on fairy tail.
I agree with you brandon and titus, hisui and arcadios should have been introduced before in the series, but i belive the role of long time villans belongs to raven tail and zeref.

About being a true fan, imo that is a bad thing to discuss, because we are all fans and that’s final :)

@fame ft isn’t just all about fanservice, it’s story isn’t emmy level, but the relationships between characters is very good and ft has made me cry and so far only ft, one piece and full metal alchemist have done that, and i have never cried before about a series.

About erza. @Titus i completly agree with you, and i have never mentioned it but erza is my favorite character in fairy tail. ( i’m not a fanboy >.< )

Erza has her flaws, but i find lucy worse than erza, i mean i'm not saying lucy is bad, but mashima should let lucy win her fights like erza does. I not expecting lucy to be a warrior like natsu and laxus or erza, but i don't enjoy seeing lucy being the punching bag

    • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 6, 2013 at 6:24 pm #

      I found this response interesting.

Fame does come across asexaggerating that its only about fanservice, however I would say its increasing, there wasn’t that much at the beginning compared to now.

Mira vs Jenny was terrible, sexy isn’t a valid reason to say it was good because just like you said it was bad storywise.

I agree, nowadays Mashima places his humour badly, it was a lot better before but now its terrible and awkard, even annoying.

I always felt the anime handled Fairy Tail well up until now, I even liked the Zentopia filler. The anime also gives fans new openings and endings frequently to rejuvinate the opening and closing experience. They are also suppossed to be improving the manga, but this time they failed, instead they got a garbage chapter Mashima created and turned it into something unimaginably worse, so bad that I blew my haystack and went on the angry rant to begin with. It was at that point that I felt I had to think deeply about whether to drop FT, although I invested a lot into it and loved the early episodes so I wasn’t sure.
I sometimes let my sisters watch my anime, they’re all younger and FT is rated PG, so kids can watch it. However, I don’t feel confortable about showing them a series where girls are treated like whores, its sexist.
One of thethings that made me fall in love with FT was that Mashima was respecting his women a lot more, Erza for example. Naruto and Bleach didn’t go as good a job, however seeing this current arc,Mashima has gone from dignified strong women to slutty, sideline whores who think its completly OK to be whores. That last episode was extremely sexist and gives off a bad message towards even the younger audience which FT is suppossed to be directed at.

Time travel will always be a bad concept, its never been good. I told Titus that although the time travel wasn’t impressive in Rave, I forgave Mashima because he did a good job with Sieg’s death, so it clouded that crappy time travel element and put it under the rug. It has never been a good thing in any fiction I’ve read, what’s worse is how authors normally assume we know about time travel, paradoxes, catch 22 (Titus had to explain that to me) and all those other borrowed elements from other fiction. Its farfetched. Anyway, saying we should give it a chance is the same as saying Mashima can do better than Toriyama, Doctor Who, FFXIII-2, Rave, Terminator, etc which is impossible. Its cheap and takes intellectual aspects out of the manga, I love figuring things out with realistic evidence, not an element asspulled. I was disappointed when Kishi asspulled the Obito explanation with the zetsu rumour since no one could’ve guessed it. It felt lame saying ‘Lucy went in the gate, came out as the robed girl’, it was hardly a discussion.
Saying judging time travel early is like judging Disney’s move to make Star Wars VII-IX is similar as you say. In the sense, that the sequels are just there as fan services rather than making a complete and nice story that flows right. Many fans dislike the idea because they belive it’ll ruin the legacy theserieshas. Its old and was suppossed to end that way. It is only being made for the raw purpose of money, nothing else. FT’s time travel plot is pulling an overated overused element from other fiction, its like having vampires or survival horror, cliches that don’t add anything new to story telling. But that’s a personal opinion, I really hate it when I keep seeing too much of this stuff since its been mishandled a lot.

      • Titus - January 6, 2013 at 8:11 pm #

Surprised you read all that, lol

I don’t see it as them expecting the reader to know about time travel, paradoxes, etc.

But rather as it as a learning process. I mean, you’re always going to come across something you don’t have knowledge on.

It’s not a term borrowed from another fiction, I would be agreeing with you here otherwise, but

Let me give an ex. of a Catch-22

To phrase it differently than I did previously, a Catch 22 is when there are two options to a situation and both work against you.

        For ex.

A woman’s child is being beaten by her father. If she reports it to the authority she is at risk of losing her child, but if she doesn’t report it, the child will continue to be beaten. Its a lose-lose situation.

      • The True Troll King Juhabach - January 7, 2013 at 6:44 pm #

Oh. But who the hell decided to call it ‘catch 22’, sounds so weird that word.

      • Blaaaah - January 10, 2013 at 11:19 pm #

I think it’s from a book by the same name…

Yup, just looked it up: The term catch-22 was coined by Joseph Heller in his novel Catch-22. (from wiki)

  19. The Idealist - January 8, 2013 at 1:24 am #

Juhabach, if you’re there, I’m starting to understand why you hate fan service so much! After watching that ridiculous excuse for an episode of Fairy Tail, I kind of felt insulted. That was was too much. They turned the battle into a Miss Universe Contest (or should I say Miss Wizard Contest). I have nothing against a little fan service now and then, but that was going waaaaaaaaaaay overboard!!! I hope that doesn’t happen again or I’ll be seriously disappointed with Fairy Tail.

    • Nidai Kitetsu - January 8, 2013 at 12:26 pm #

yeha I felt it was stupid too and ive never been bothered by the fan service before but this was over the top and poorly executed.

one thing id like to say though, Japanese men are very lonely, im sure you’ve heard about people who’ve married body pillows with anime characters on them etc. this stuff appeals to them because they cant find a gf. that’s nami and robins target audience for one piece.
