Kingdom キングダム 430 : The horn of salvation

-Chapter starts with Shin and co. hiding in a building in order to keep the palace maidens and princess safe. Shin left 2 of his lieutenants there to protect the girls and decides to join the battle outside Kanyou as the battle there is the deciding battle to this war.
-Meanwhile just outside Kanyou, the Qin forces and the rebels are still fighting. The Qin forces are losing but Ten refuses to retreat even if it means total annihilation of the Qin forces as they are the only road block between the main bulk of the rebel forces and the entrance to Kanyou now.
-Ten knows that there are only 2 ways for them to win, either they enter Kanyou and defend the city from the inside or they have kill the enemy commander. The rebels are very clear about this and therefore have plenty of soldiers defending the gates and have their commander at the back of the formation.
-Just as the Qin forces were losing, a loud horn sounded and could be heard all over Kanyou.
-The reinforcements brought by SBK and SHk had finally arrived.
-Against the enemy forces of 30000, SBK and SHK brought only about 1000 men. Despite being outnumbered, they charged down the slopes from the back of the rebel forces. (reminds me of the scene from LOTR movie where Eomer arrived at dawn in the Battle of Helms Deep.)
-SBK knows SHK as a tactician not a warrior and therefore is curious how he will perform in the battlefield as a combat general.
-When SBK was worried about SHK’s safety when he charged into the enemy formation head on, Kaioku tells SBK that when SHK was young, he was even stronger than Moubu so there is nothing to worry.
-Indeed, SHK broke through the enemy formation in one strike and orders Kaioku to go for the head of Juuteki while SBK was still stunned by SHK’s power.

The moment Ten raised the flags to coincide with the plan was so sick, I got chills from reading that haha.

Ten was a fucking team player. She instantly recognizes the formation and his Master’s plan and she delivered by giving support and completing the play.

    This war is almost over.
I can’t wait for the Queen Mother’s reaction, when Shin brings back his husband/lover, as captive.
The same goes for Ryo Fui

    • Gurusei - May 12, 2015 at 6:34 am #

Hope Queen Mother is presented with her lover’s decapitated head.

Right now, I’m just fanboying over SHK! This guy is a beast.
“As strong as Mou Bu and as smart as Ri Boku” Damn! This guy is the complete package, and to think he is wasting his talents away sitting inside the palace only devising plans of attack for the Qin Military and teaching. Also, it’s amazing how Hara used that page to foreshadow something.
…and then SHK’s face which says “just as I had planned”. This guy is truly a beast. This chapter was so amazing! This is why I love Kingdom!

A manga suggestion for all – Ad Astra – Scipio to Hannibal. Set during the 2nd Punic War in Italy, it is a story about two Generals – Publius Cornelius Scipio of the Roman Empire and Hannibal Barca of Carthage – who fight against each other for their respective country (SPOILER – with Scipio being the eventual winner – SPOILER). It should be noted Scipio’s role as a Commanding General comes later in the story. The manga is only 10 chapters so far, so it isn’t a long read and in some sense can be likened to Kingdom since both are war based mangas. The difference between the two is Kingdom utilises both strategy and flashy fights, whilst Ad Astra concentrates on strategy to win war (since that is what the 2nd Punic War was most well-known for).

A little information about Hannibal (CONTAINS SPOILERS):

He is widely regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in history, and some even consider him the greatest. Although he was ultimately defeated by Scipio (who did have the advantage in number, weapons, equipment, home turf, and knowledge of Hannibal’s tactics), Hannibal was the first ever person to strike fear into the hearts of the Roman Empire (considered to be one of the greatest empires of all time). His strategies were based around him understanding what his and his enemies strengths and weaknesses were and utilising his own strength, whilst exploiting his enemies weakness. What further proves how great a strategist Hannibal was that Rome utilised his tactics in tandem with their own.

SHK went beast mode last chapter. Who do you think gets the credit after the battle? Who will take down the Ai General?

    • Hi Shin Unit - May 16, 2015 at 3:36 pm #

I think Shin will be credited with capturing Rou Ai, whilst SHK will be credited with stopping the rebellion with Hi Shin being praised for their support.

Rou Ai needs to be taken alive. I’m excited to see the fallout after the battle. Heads will role imo it serves then right.

From the looks of the Qin army, it seems that SHK killed the Duke in an instant. Pathetic Ryofui, he will have a taste of Sei’s punishment for all of his sins.

      Looks promising!

    Shk went blood mode
    Damn the dude is strong
I think the author may make a slight retcon and boost his martial prowess to 93 to 95 from 89,he may suffer from being rusty in battle
    He’s powerful
Once again wish this manga had another anime adaptation

Why didnt he did take on Riboku in Coalation war instead of letting Ei sei go

      • Hi Shin Unit - May 19, 2015 at 7:30 pm #

SHK could never have rallied the people of Sai the way Ei Sei did, and it is for that very reason they succeeded. It was a moment Ei Sei needed to go, not SHK. Also, SHK never accompanied Ei Sei because he was still a part of Ryo Fui’s faction. That incident with Ei Sei going to Sai to rally the troops acted as the catalyst for SHK leaving Ryo Fui’s side.

      • kom5 - May 20, 2015 at 6:20 am #

I agree with the fact he was at Ryo Fuis side anyway the existence of the qin empire was on the line

I first also thought the same as you but look now the way he outclassed the rebellion army it gave me goosebums I honestly think he cöuld lead the army that time

SHB was also the very reason why Mou Bou didnt lose ..

      • Hi Shin Unit - May 20, 2015 at 11:03 am #

It is hard to say whether or not he would have succeeded. The first question that needs to asked is “would SHK have been able to rally the people of Sai in the same manner the King did?”. That’s a question that will go unanswered, and is key to knowing if SHK would have succeeded at Sai.

That last sentence seems like you are taking away from Mou Bu’s achievement. SHK only though up the strategy Mou Bu’s army should use to allow Mou Bu to fight Kan Mei at full strength. The rest was down to Mou Bu. He had to beat Kan Mei and he did. SHK had nothing to do with that.
