Chapter 852 The Germa’s Failure

Reiju is sleeping in an infirmary
She recovers quickly so she will be able to join the tea party the next day, apparently
Sanji comes in and restrains the guard
Reiju wakes up, but her memory’s fuzzy and she feels confused
Sanji explains her what really happened

Prisoner Library
Luffy & co. manage to escape by burning the book
As soon as they’re out of the cage, Luffy can’t move because of his empty stomach
Even so, he runs upstairs to help Sanji

Reiju believes Sanji’s words
Reiju had been investigating Pudding herself, as she thought she seemed too much of a good person
Sanji’s pretty desperate, and Reiju tells him that “I think the Germa should crumble like this”
Reiju proposes to act as if they knew nothing.
Sanji’s against it, and Reiju starts talking about the circumstances around Sanji’s birth.

Reiju could not forget a certain memory
When their Father had said he would turn the soon to be born children in emotionless machines, the mother was fiercely against it

The surgery was done against her will, but the mother drank a powerful medicine that would influence their bloodline’s genes, in order to stop the father’s wild ambition.

There was no effect on the 3 older children, but Sanji alone was able to grow up as human.

Because of that medicine, the mother kept getting weaker and weaker, but she had no regrets

Father blamed Sanji for the whole thing, and started treating him badly
Reiju: “There’s no way you are a failure”
Reiju: “The child born with the “emotions” that mother protected with her own life”
Reiju: “That’s you…Sanji”
Reiju: “That’s why you are kinder than anyone else!!!”

Reiju tells Sanji to abandon the Germa and escape.

Reiju: “(Big Mom?) is not interested in your savior’s life, I think.
Reiju: “Father and the brothers who hold the sea restaurant hostage will be killed tomorrow.”
Reiju: “It’s a just retribution! We’re a band of assassins!!”」
Sanji : “I too have nothing but resentment towards them…but why do you have to die…!?”
Reiju : “There is still “emotion” within me, but…I am an “accomplice”, built unable to refuse Father’s orders.”
Reiju: “My hands are stained…I deserve to die.”
Reiju: “I forgot to say something…that bracelet won’t explode or anything. I switched it (with a dud).”
Reiju: “Do you have any other reasons not to leave this island!?”
Reiju: “Get a hold of yourself, Sanji!! Think hard about what’s important for you!!
Reiju: “You won’t be able to see that great bunch of people anymore!!!”

Break after Chapter 852

One Piece 852 Spoiler Trivia Sanji’s nickname “Mr. Prince” which he used in Alabasta, actually foreshadowed his own royal heritage and Sanji always imagining himself as a dashing prince helped this.

To the people that think Sanji couldn’t have beaten Vergo. What will it take to convince you otherwise? When Sanji shows his power ups this arc, will you think him only capable of using them now or more rightly, that they are a result of his 2 years of training.

Hopefully Oda will give Sanji a small flashback to make it clear that his skill could have been used at any point post ts if it was Oda’s intention. The same way that Luffy could have used G4 against Hody or Ceasar or Chinjao but didn’t.

So for now I’m really looking forward to seeing Sanji using the Poele Frire thing he almost used against Judge and black imbued Haki. If they end up fighting Big Mom though he might need an actual in fight power up to beat a sweet commander. This however assumes that in relation to Luffy who has struggled and needed help against DD and Cracker that gear 4 is Luffy’s final power up. If it isn’t Luffy at his strongest then it is possible that in relation Sanji will be able to more effectively handle a Top Yonkou commander.

    • Pirate King - January 11, 2017 at 5:25 pm #

That’s guaranteed (the new stronger techniques I mean) but unfortunately in the meantime sanji will get more Ls.

    • Bob - January 11, 2017 at 7:05 pm #

if it makes it clear that he learned them over the time skip then I’ll assume he got it over the time skip. if it seems like he developed it during the fight, then I’ll assume he didn’t have it in his fight against vergo.

    • GomoGomoNo - January 11, 2017 at 7:06 pm #

Nothing new Sanji shows now will have been needed against Vergo.

Saying Sanji would lose to Vergo just because he got a crack in his leg bone makes no sense. Sanji was not only fine, but he kept fighting afterwards, and immediately redirected Vergo’s leg, with his injured leg, and then continued matching Vergo’s kicks with the same leg. Clearly it didn’t bother him much.

Bellamy busted up Luffy with his attacks, but no one thinks Bellamy is remotely close to Luffy just because his attacks could break Luffy’s haki and cause him to cough up blood. And this is the same haki on his stomach that Luffy used to block Doflamingo’s awakened strings. A single attack no matter how successful or unsuccessful does not = overall strength.

I think it would have been a bruising battle between the Sanji and Vergo, going blow for blow for a while, because they are close in strength, but Sanji is faster. Sanji blitzed him multiple times and sent him flying, and he casually reacted to all of Vergo’s attacks. So he’s clearly faster and over time he would get in far more shots than Vergo.

And also I think Sanji’s fire would be the thing to really put him over the top. Remember Sanji can easily set something as big as Watsodumi on fire with Hell’s Memories, so he could set Vergo ablaze, with 1 kick no less. Technically Sanji should also be able to light that whole room on fire if he wanted to. In either scenario, Vergo could only stay full body haki for so long and when that shit runs out his ass would have been burning with every step he took.

      • Bob - January 11, 2017 at 7:08 pm #

most of that’s just theorycrafting, sanji himself said after the battle that if the fight continued it would’ve been bad. he acknowledged that he would lose the fight, while vergo wasn’t even using full body haki or bamboo. he was out of his league

        • GomoGomoNo - January 11, 2017 at 7:17 pm #

Would have been bad doesn’t mean would have lost, he got injured and may have taken more injuries = that would have been bad.

Sure Vergo wasn’t, but Sanji wasn’t using his full body fire mode, nor do we know if Sanji was even using his haki at all(damn black pants, lol).

Also let’s be clear here, “Full body Haki” is not stronger haki, it’s just the same haki all over your body. It’s a waste of stamina and only morons do that trying to look intimidating. Skilled people like Doffy, Luffy, and Cracker use it only precisely when they need to.

        • Bob - January 11, 2017 at 7:19 pm #

well it’s not really the principle of full body haki being stronger, it’s more of the fact that it was vergo’s ultimate technique/finishing move

it might not be stronger on everyone it’s more of a vergo thing

    • kobor42 - January 11, 2017 at 10:26 pm #

Sanji’s emotions will explode and bring out a new level.
He will start using knifes for fighting.
Unlimited leg speed with silent killing.
Sanji will become THE ULTIMATE ASSASIN!

  2. antarus - January 11, 2017 at 5:56 pm #

I would be more hyped about doflamingo vs sanji rematch, not vergo vs sanji.

    • antarus - January 11, 2017 at 6:21 pm #

I want to seee air battle between them. and sanji burning his strings with fire

    • Bob - January 11, 2017 at 7:09 pm #

well if sanji got a powerup then he might actually be able to defeat vergo, while doflamingo would still be way above his level

      • kobor42 - January 11, 2017 at 10:52 pm #

Considering he won’t start using knives. Then he would literally chop off doflamingo

        • Bob - January 11, 2017 at 11:49 pm #

sanji wouldn’t become stronger by using knives, I don’t know why people think he would

  3. antarus - January 11, 2017 at 6:21 pm #

So does this chapter confirm sanji doesn’t have super powers

    • ~7OPofD.w0rld - January 11, 2017 at 7:42 pm #

His burning leg and walking on air are super powers if u ask me though if u’re asking about the exoskeleton stuff I guess it could still happen…

  4. what - January 11, 2017 at 6:22 pm #

if reiju isn’t sanji’s biological sister that was born from the same father and mother, do you guys think that sanji will fall in love with reiju?

    • Pxking - January 11, 2017 at 6:31 pm #

nah, they have a more of brother-sister feeling unless you are into insest.

    • iMacTim - January 11, 2017 at 6:42 pm #

No. She is a sort of clone like the 3 others brothers no ? She is a Vinsmoke modified, but their is a blood link. But after all, why not, it’s may not be Oda’ way of thinking ^^
IMO we are gonna see Judge without helmet and he gonna have the same eyebrows as Sanji (because they aren’t genetically modified or something like that).

To go further, I would say XX (girl) = left side, Reiji is normal and may have children.
Sanji is XY (boy) = normal so he can have children, eyebrows left side too
The other brothers: YY (impossible) they are sterile, like the clones –>>> Maybe to finally traumatize 1,2 and 4! With a good beating …

    • GomoGomoNo - January 11, 2017 at 7:08 pm #

      Reiju will be with zoro.

it’s divide justice if you think. zoro will have babies with female sanji, reiju

    Fcuk moderation

  6. Xcalibur100 - January 11, 2017 at 6:36 pm #

I think Sanji is still superhuman and has the exoskeleton thing.. Im guessing what Reiju meant by saying that Sanji is normal was that he was the only one born with human emotions (like kindness) unlike his siblings (who feel nothing when they even kill someone)….

    • GomoGomoNo - January 11, 2017 at 7:09 pm #

It’s possible, we have to wait and see. Oda is flinging random two sided info and red hearings all over the place, so I’m not even trippin on this arc any more, lol.

    • antarus - January 11, 2017 at 7:26 pm #

I think it’s about superpowers too, reiju is the one that has emotions and super powers.

      besides, sanji doesn’t need superpowers.

he has fire already, armaments of hardening that is better then exoskeleton, super strength from training, not born with it

  7. what - January 11, 2017 at 6:41 pm #

i think sanji was born as an abnormal baby. you know normal babies usually coming out from mom’s pu*ssy, that’s how vinsmokes brothers were born, they were actually abnormal, but they lived in an abnormal family, so they were called normal. in the other hand, sanji was actually normal, but was called abnormal, so i guess sanji was born in a different way with his brothers, like.. coming out from an egg.

  9. antarus - January 11, 2017 at 7:27 pm #

we have seen people reate slashes with their legs since pre ts with cp9. even stvpid Nero had it.

Oda sure saved sanji’s leg slashes for a reason, maybe to make it one of his strongest moves he will use to defeat yonkous top commanders?

    • GomoGomoNo - January 11, 2017 at 7:30 pm #

I always figure he didn’t want to do it before because Zoro has wind slashes. Then he gave him flight so Sanji can easily close the gap between himself and targets. But who knows we might see it happen now.

    • Bob - January 11, 2017 at 7:35 pm #

sanji is not a swordsman so I’m hoping that he doesn’t get a swordsman technique

        aaa fk it, moderated

      • ~7OPofD.w0rld - January 11, 2017 at 7:52 pm #

Lucci wasn’t a swordsman either…though if I’m not wrong he showed something similar in FI with the Diable Jumble Spectre, shooting fire from his legs, at least that’s how it looked in the anime

        • Bob - January 11, 2017 at 8:02 pm #

kaku claimed that he was the best swordsman in cp9, which would make all of cp9 swordsmen.

    • me - January 11, 2017 at 11:22 pm #

I figure he’ll use it but not as a final major technique to defeat a yonko commander off course. Even the Sanji version of Rokuogun won’t do that (although it’d damage him a lot)

      • Cp3.14 - January 12, 2017 at 1:12 am #

So you think Sanji knows rokuogun? I’ve been seeing a lot of off handed comments about Sanji possibly knowing Rokoshuki* techniques recently, any idea where this theory is coming from? The only thing I can think of is that he now has skywalk, but as far as I can recall there hasn’t been any evidence of the other techniques (other than the speed one Soru or whatever it’s called)

        • Bob - January 12, 2017 at 2:17 am #

he hasn’t even shown soru to be honest, he’s mostly just really fast. I don’t think sanji will learn all of the 6 powers, he just got geppo because it already involves legs to begin with–soru is kind of redundant considering he probably already moves faster than soru speed and rankyaku is a swordsmanship technique, so I don’t see much need for him to learn those 2. the other techniques are unrelated to legs for the most part

        • Nidai Kitetsu - January 12, 2017 at 4:00 am #

there have been foreshadowing that suggest he would gain other techniques.

Tekkai being the primary one since his shin was cracked by Vergo, a tekkai user and since his family has a tough exoskeleton.

on top of that Niji showed a technique called Stealth which works very much like Soru.

then Rankyaku is an obvious one that he should learn as it makes perfect sense.

and just like that there’s precedent for Sanji to have 4 of the 6 of the Rokushiki techniques.

then when you think about it Sanji’s focus on CoO could lead to some variation of Kami-e.

Shigan seems out of character until you realise that Zeff was known for having kicks that left his shoes stained in the blood of his opponents and could leave indents in iron.

    • me - January 11, 2017 at 11:22 pm #

I figure he’ll use it but not as a final major technique to defeat a yonko commander off course. Even the Sanji version of Rokuogun won’t do that (although it’d damage him a lot)

Who else has seen Film Gold?

    • LogicoftheVI - January 11, 2017 at 8:00 pm #

I thought the animation was really good, I wasn’t necessarily a fan of the antagonist character designs but they worked. The plot was better than I expected and I actually liked how they went about handicapping the Straw Hat’s. I was curious how this guy was going to make Luffy go G4 but I also like how that was handled. The whole deception makes you a loser thing working against Tessoro in the end was really well written as well, I saw it coming and it was a bit cliché (I guess) but it really was emphasized that you needed to beat him at his own game. Music and voice acting was great, I have no real complaints other than why was CP-0 and The Revolutionary Army even involved in this movie? That is time that could have been better spent giving the antagonists (especially Baccarat). I also liked the emphasis on Nami and the thief girl, I hope Oda makes Nami more of her Cat Burglar self in the manga soon. Overall way better than Z and slightly more enjoyable than Strong World imo so…..I can give it a 8/10.

      • eric v - January 11, 2017 at 8:32 pm #

It had a lot more potential but it was… darker. Usually the sexual slavery overtones isnt overdone, but the antagonist naked in a hot tub with girls that towel him off afterwards leaves far less to the imagination than usual. also him killing COUNTLESS civilians when he goes apeshit in the final fight (burying them alive in gold) is a little beyond the norm for one piece… then animating the blood trickling across his eye from his head is something not usually done.

Of course it has the unbelievable flair, tesoro could have easily gold-mummied all the strawhats for a 1bil+ execution showtime, but instead let them go scheme against him for the lulz.

Nami getting raped by even more bad guys from her past is lul.

You bring up a valid point.. WHY was cp-0 involved? sure, the tenryuubito was there, but they had no clue tesoro was going to go batshit insane, so they just randomly called for 10 fleets because…. ? The revolutionary army was probably there because fuck the rich and other overdone hype typical motives.

I love casinos so i enjoyed the flick simply for the atmosphere, but it was darker than one piece usually is…..but still was childish in some ways as one piece must be.

Really though, the dude’s head buried alive and watching his death-squirming before going limp and tesoro giggling like a damn school girl over it was pretty ruthless.

Totally, lucci vs akainu is not necessary, if any, it would make stupid fans thought akainu as an obedient dog. Lucci vs sabo also not necessary as stupid fans will conclude that sabo wasn’t strong enough to beat lucci or lucci grow so much stronger that he still rivals luffy. So fucking unnecessary.

        • HunterX - January 12, 2017 at 12:59 am #

Since oda was the executive producer of this movie, so it can be somewhat canon and yes, akainu and each one in the world government is an obedient dog to the celestial dragons and the cp0 since they are directly under them.

        • Pirate King - January 12, 2017 at 1:31 am #

They’re obedient but I don’t think lucci has the guts, arrogant like that in front of his superior (although not a direct superior)

Based on the spoiler, Reiju was already born when the talk about turning their children into emotionless killing machines happened, but she still got the superpowers, so that surgery had to be only for that purpose: destroying their emotions, the superpowers experiments had to be done after their birth IMO, so Sanji might still have it even if his mom drank something, BUT since Sanji had some emotions the experiments with the exoskeleton kept failing but might get activeted with the eruption of strong emotions…most likely WRATH

  12. ~7OPofD.w0rld - January 11, 2017 at 8:23 pm #

  16. Xcalibur100 - January 12, 2017 at 3:25 am #

Out of 6 + 1 Rokushiki techniques Sanji might have 4 that attainable/attained at his current level already

    Geppo = Skywalk
    Tekkai = CoA
Soru = Super speed (which he displayed when he defeated the boss of goons who had troubled Violet in Dressrosa where he seemingly disappeared before upper kicking that guy)
    and Kami-e = CoO

The other Rokushiuki technique which he could develop or maybe already has could be his version of Rankyaku
which could be like those flying slashes with his leg similar to what Zoro does with his swords and he could make it flashier with the use of fire.

All that remains would be 2 more Rokushiki techniques (Shigan and Rokuogan) which wouldn’t be Sanji’s forte since it requires use of his hands/fingers.

On another note it could be fun if Sanji could use that kind of flying kick slash technique and compete with Zoros Kokujo o tatsumaki hence furthering their rivalry.

    • Xcalibur100 - January 12, 2017 at 3:29 am #

and instead of just slicing the opponent with tatsumaki like Zoro does Sanji could slice and burn them in his own version…..

  18. Cp3.14 - January 12, 2017 at 4:40 am #

Anyone else think that CP0 members will not only all have Rokuogun mastery but will also be able to use additional more powerful and secretive techniques? If so any ideas? IMO CP9s techniques were inspired by martial arts “secret” techniques such as the 5 finger death punch so I could see CP0s techniques involving the use of things like preassure points, that could be used to disrupt/ change the flow of an opponents haki ( or chi/ lifeforce if haki is not one and the same) which like the 5FDP could be used at lower levels to temporarily paralyze an opponents limb(s), at higher levels it could cause severe pain and/ or organ failure, as well as possible loss of consciousness, and at its highest levels could cause instant death ( the legend is that when an assasin struck someone with the five finger death punch, they would be dead before their bodies could hit the ground). In addition to pressure points, other possible options with ties to martial arts techniques include, haki (if CP0 does infact have additional techniques by far the most likely means would be through the use of the 3 primary haki types as well as the various lesser known subtypes),spirit/ soul abbiilities, DF awakening techniques and elemental abilities. Meditation based techniques could include things like conscious control/ inhancment of ones own body (in a sense this is what tekki is, I’m not suggesting someone could necessarily for instance heal a wound by focusing on that wound, but more like a way to trick your body into going beyond its own limits, in a way very similar also to Ivankovs hormone shots), as well as a variety of possible mental techniques that could be extremely valuable to an intelligence agency like CP0, primererly for non combat purposes, some examples would be astral projection, clairvoyance, telepathy/mind reading, mind control/ hypnosis, ESP, and empathy. Like I said if they do end up having new techniques then all or most of them will most likely be based around advanced haki uses/techniques, I came up with a theory a while back based on just that, Ill see if I can find it and post it, I remember it ended up with 3 techniques for each of the haki types for a total of 9 techniques (although the 3rd CoC technique was a rokuogon like combination of the others) when added with the 7 Rokoshiki techniques and presumably awakened DFs, the top 2-4 agents should be a challenge even for an admiral.

So I’m on Chapter 91 of Red Storm. I’m really enjoying the creation of The Red Storm Army. I also like the relationships between the main character and his romantic interests.

    A good series so far.

Still, The Tower Of God is the series that I’ve been most falling in love with recently. Outside of One Piece of course.

It’s not just that Sanji stated that it wouldn’t be good if the match up had continued against Vergo, but when has Sanji backed down from a match up just because it might lead to him being injured? Sanji backed down from a match up against Vergo, and that IMO implies that he thinks that Vergo would have won the match up or at least had a good chance of doing so. It’s not just that, though, that makes me think that Vergo is decisively more powerful than Sanji. It’s also that Vergo, in addition to besting Sanji, went on to best Smoker and put up a great match up against Law. I think that we can agree that Law is more powerful than Sanji, and Smoker should at least be comparable to Sanji in terms of power. Could Sanji have bested Smoker and put up a great match up against Law in the same match up? I highly doubt it, and that’s still excluding his match up against Vergo.

On top of that, Vergo is Doflamingo’s most powerful subordinate, and Doflamingo is multiple leagues above Sanji in terms of power. I don’t see Doflamingo being thaaaaaaat much more powerful than Vergo.

That’s Current Sanji, though. It wouldn’t surprise me if Sanji, after his next power up, is = or > Vergo.

For me Pica is the strongest Doflamingo’s most subordinate

Also, I respectfully disagree with the idea that Sanji is faster than Vergo. Vergo has shown that he can keep up with teleportation level techniques. I would give Vergo the edge in virtually every category, although not by a lot. Vergo’s basically a somewhat more skilled version of Sanji IMO. Again, though, when Sanji gets a power up he’ll likely have the edge. :p

I rllyyy hope we get a maximum of 2 more chapters after this before all the action and major fights start.
Next Chapter (after this) Sandi’s resolution. Then major important parts. Then all the havoc begins (oh and it begins before the guests arrive, they then arrive and add to the mix)
